Setting up IPTV on Samsung smart TVs and LG smart TVs takes about ten minutes and no extra hardware: install a player app from the TV's own store (Samsung Apps on Tizen, the LG Content Store on webOS), open it once so it shows the TV's MAC address, then add your playlist on the player's website from a phone or computer. The channels appear on the TV a few seconds later. The catch is that smart-TV players work differently from Firestick and Android apps — most of them have no login screen — and that is what confuses people. This guide walks through the whole thing for both brands, model year by model year.
ZyroTV is an IPTV provider, so we set these TVs up with customers every day; the recommendations below come from what actually works in support chats, not from an app's marketing page. If you want to compare every player first, the IPTV player guide covers all of them. This page is specifically about Samsung and LG.
How IPTV on a smart TV actually works
A smart TV player is just software. It contains no channels of its own: it reads a playlist (an M3U link) or an Xtream Codes login supplied by your IPTV subscription and paints those channels into a guide on screen. Your ZyroTV credentials work in every player on this page, so the decision is purely about interface and price — you are never locked into the first app you try.
What makes TVs different from a Firestick is the activation model. Typing a long M3U link with a TV remote is painful, so the main Samsung and LG players skip the login screen entirely. Instead, the app shows a MAC address (and sometimes a short device key), and you enter your playlist on the developer's website from your phone or laptop. The website links the playlist to that MAC, the TV app checks in, and the channels load. Once you understand that one idea, every player below makes sense.
🔑 The one thing to get right
Website-activated players want your full M3U playlist URL — the long get.php…type=m3u_plus link ZyroTV emails you — not the Xtream username and password on their own. IPTV Smarters Pro is the exception: it has a normal login form that takes the Xtream server address, username and password. Both are in the same activation email.
Which IPTV players are on Samsung and LG app stores
Four players are realistically available for these TVs. Availability genuinely varies by country and by model year — Samsung and LG list and delist apps regionally, and an app that shows up on a 2023 set may be missing on a 2017 one — so treat the table as "what to search for," then check your own store.
| Player | Samsung (Tizen) | LG (webOS) | How you activate | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| IBO Player Pro (our recommendation) | Samsung Apps, most regions | LG Content Store, most regions | MAC + Device Key on iboplayer.pro, paste the M3U link | Trial, then a one-time fee per device |
| IPTV Smarters Pro | Listing varies by region and model year | LG Content Store, most regions | In-app login with Xtream server, username, password | Free |
| Smart IPTV (SIPTV) | Yes, long-standing | Yes, long-standing | Upload the M3U link against the MAC on the SIPTV website | 7-day trial, then a small one-time fee per TV |
| Flix IPTV | Yes, most regions | Yes, most regions | Enter the M3U link against the MAC on the Flix IPTV website | Trial, then a one-time fee per TV |
Two honest notes. First, the "one-time fee" players (IBO Player Pro, SIPTV, Flix) charge the app developer's fee, not ZyroTV — it is separate from your subscription, paid once per TV, and the app keeps working with any provider afterward. Second, IPTV Smarters Pro is free but has the most inconsistent store presence, especially on Samsung; if your store search returns nothing, that is a regional listing gap, not a fault with your TV. The IPTV Smarters Pro install guide covers its login flow on every platform, including these TVs.
Why we recommend IBO Player Pro for Samsung and LG
When a customer messages us with a new Samsung or LG, we point them to IBO Player Pro first, for three practical reasons. The setup is identical on both brands and on every other device we support, so our support team can walk anyone through it in a couple of minutes. The web activation means nobody types a 150-character link with a TV remote. And it handles the ZyroTV channel list — 30,000+ live channels plus 120,000+ movies and series — with a usable guide and category browsing, which the lighter TV players struggle with. Its weaknesses are real too: the EPG and customization are behind TiViMate on Android, and the lack of an in-app login confuses people who expect one. Our IBO Player Pro installation guide goes deeper on the app itself; the section below is the smart-TV-specific version.
Step-by-step: IPTV on Samsung smart TVs (Tizen) with IBO Player Pro
These steps apply to any Samsung set running Tizen — roughly every model from 2015 onward. The menu names shift a little between years, but the sequence is the same.
- Open the app store. Press the Home button on the remote, move to Apps (the shopping-bag icon on newer sets), and open the search (magnifying glass, top-right).
- Search "IBO Player Pro" and install. Select the app, press Install, then Open. If the search returns nothing, jump to the country-availability fix in the troubleshooting section below.
- Read the MAC address and Device Key off the screen. The first-launch screen shows both. Photograph it with your phone so you can zoom in — a misread 0/O or 1/I is the most common cause of "device not found."
- On your phone or computer, open iboplayer.pro/manage-playlists/list/. Sign in with the MAC and Device Key exactly as shown, colons included.
- Add the playlist. Click Add playlist, name it (anything — "ZyroTV" is fine), and paste the full M3U link from your activation email. Save.
- Back on the TV, reload the app. Exit and reopen IBO Player Pro; the playlist name appears, and the channels, movies and series load behind it.
Step-by-step: IPTV on LG smart TVs (webOS) with IBO Player Pro
LG sets from 2014 onward run webOS, and the LG Content Store is where every player on this page lives. The flow is the same as Samsung with LG's menus.
- Open the LG Content Store. Press Home on the Magic Remote, then pick LG Content Store (or Apps on the newest webOS versions).
- Search "IBO Player Pro" and install. Use the search icon at the top, select the app, press Install, then Launch.
- Note the MAC address and Device Key shown on the app's first screen. Photograph the screen.
- Activate on iboplayer.pro/manage-playlists/list/ from your phone or laptop: sign in with the MAC and key, choose Add playlist, paste your full M3U link, save.
- Reopen the app on the TV. Your channels load. If the app was already open, close it fully (long-press Back or use the app switcher) and open it again so it re-checks the server.
💡 Use the MAC the app shows, not the one in TV settings
Some TV players — Smart IPTV in particular — display the TV's wired (Ethernet) MAC even when you are on Wi-Fi, and the website only accepts that one. Always copy the address from inside the app, not from the TV's network settings page.
Setting up the alternatives: Smarters, Smart IPTV and Flix
If IBO Player Pro is missing from your store or you simply prefer another interface, the three alternatives work with the same ZyroTV credentials.
IPTV Smarters Pro — the only one with a normal login
Install it from the LG Content Store (or Samsung Apps where listed), open it, and choose Login with Xtream Codes API. Enter any name, then the username, password and server URL from your ZyroTV email — the server URL is the part before /get.php in your M3U link, with no trailing slash. Press Add User and the app downloads your channels, movies and series. No website, no MAC, and it is free. If you need the full walkthrough of the app's menus, EPG and catch-up, see how to use IPTV Smarters.
Smart IPTV (SIPTV) — the veteran
Install Smart IPTV from the store and open it. The app displays a MAC address. From a phone or computer, go to the Smart IPTV website's "My list" page, enter that MAC, paste your M3U link, tick the box to save it online, and send. Restart the app on the TV and the channel list loads. The app runs free for 7 days, then asks for a small one-time activation fee per TV, paid to the app developer. SIPTV is bare-bones — a channel list with a basic guide — but it is very stable on older Tizen and webOS versions where newer apps have dropped support, which is its main reason to exist in 2026.
Flix IPTV — a lighter alternative
Flix IPTV follows the same pattern: install from the store, note the MAC on the first screen, add your M3U link against that MAC on the Flix IPTV website, and restart the app. It has a trial period followed by a one-time fee per TV. The interface is closer to IBO Player Pro's (movies and series categories, not just a channel list), so it is the natural second choice if IBO Player Pro is not listed in your country.
Older Samsung and LG models that can't install apps
This is the part most guides skip. Samsung sets made before roughly 2015 run the older Orsay platform, and LG sets before 2014 run NetCast; neither can install current player apps, and even early Tizen and webOS models (2015–2017) gradually lose apps as developers drop support for old firmware. If your store search returns nothing for any player on this page, the TV — not the app — is usually the limit.
The fix costs $25–40 and is honestly a better experience anyway: plug a Fire TV Stick or an Android TV box into a spare HDMI port and run the player there. A stick's processor outperforms the chip inside a 2016 TV, TiViMate and the full Android player catalog become available, and nothing about your ZyroTV subscription changes — the same login works. Our guide to the best IPTV app for Firestick picks the player, and which devices support IPTV compares sticks and boxes if you are choosing between them.
✅ Native TV app is the better choice when…
- Your TV is from roughly 2018 or later and the store lists IBO Player Pro or Smarters
- You want zero extra remotes and zero extra boxes
- One or two people watch on this TV and a simple guide is enough
⛔ A stick or box is the better choice when…
- The TV is 2017 or older, or the store has no player at all
- You want TiViMate-grade EPG, recording or multi-view
- The built-in app stutters or crashes — a common sign the TV's processor is the bottleneck
Troubleshooting: the problems we actually see
These are the smart-TV issues that fill our support inbox, in order of frequency, with the fix that works.
| Problem | Most likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| App not in the store | Regional listing gap or an old model year | Try the alternative players above; check the TV's country setting (below); otherwise use a Fire TV Stick |
| "Device not found" on the activation website | MAC or Device Key mistyped | Re-enter from a photo of the screen; watch 0/O, 1/I and 8/B; include the colons |
| Playlist added but the TV shows nothing | Wrong link type, or the app hasn't refreshed | Paste the full M3U link (not the Xtream login); fully close and reopen the app |
| Channels load but stutter or buffer | Wi-Fi too weak for the TV's position, or connections in use elsewhere | Move to Ethernet or a closer access point; confirm nobody else is streaming on a 1-connection plan |
| Everything worked, then stopped | Subscription expired, or the app's trial ended | Check your ZyroTV expiry date; pay the app's one-time activation if it lapsed |
App missing because of the TV's country
Both brands tie the app store to the country the TV is set to. On Samsung, the Smart Hub region follows the location chosen at setup; on LG, it is Settings → General → Location → LG Services Country. Changing the country is possible and does surface apps that were hidden, but it resets the store, may remove apps you already installed, and can shift the TV's default streaming services. Do it only if you are comfortable redoing your TV's app setup; for most people a $30 stick is the lower-risk route.
MAC address activation questions
The MAC is a hardware identifier, so a playlist you activate is tied to that TV. Buy a second Samsung or LG and it needs its own activation (and, for paid players, its own fee). Your ZyroTV subscription is not tied to the MAC — the same M3U link can be added to the bedroom TV, your phone and a Firestick. What limits simultaneous viewing is your plan's connection count, not the number of devices: a 1-connection plan plays on one screen at a time, 2- and 3-connection plans cover several rooms.
Playlist not loading after it worked before
Smart TVs cache aggressively and have no per-app "clear cache" button. A cold restart — hold the power button on the remote until the TV reboots, or unplug it for a minute — fixes most stale-guide and blank-list problems. If the guide is still stale after that, the step-by-step is in how to clear IPTV cache, and persistent stuttering has its own guide on why IPTV buffers.
⚠️ Don't rewrite the link
A surprising number of failed activations come from "fixing" the M3U link — changing http to https, deleting the &type=m3u_plus tail, or pasting the server URL alone. Copy the link from your email exactly as it is and paste the whole thing.
What you need before you start
Three things: a Samsung or LG TV connected to the internet (Ethernet if possible — a TV's Wi-Fi radio is often its weakest component); a phone or computer for the activation website; and an active subscription that provides an M3U link or Xtream login. ZyroTV plans start at $15 for a month on one connection, with 3-, 6- and 12-month packages at $30, $45 and $70; the credentials arrive by email within minutes of ordering, and every plan is covered by a 7-day money-back guarantee. Bandwidth-wise, budget about 10–15 Mbps per HD stream and around 25 Mbps for 4K. You can browse the full lineup on the channel list before you buy.
Got the app installed and the MAC on screen? The only thing missing is a playlist. ZyroTV plans start at $15/month with 30,000+ live channels, 120,000+ movies and series, instant email activation and a 7-day money-back guarantee.
