To install TiViMate on Firestick you need about ten minutes and no technical background: enable Developer Options, allow the Downloader app to install other apps, use Downloader to fetch the official TiViMate installation file, then sign in with the Xtream Codes login or M3U playlist URL your IPTV provider emailed you. TiViMate isn't in the Amazon Appstore, which is why the extra preparation step exists — but every step is reversible, safe, and spelled out below with the exact menu names for both old and new Fire TV interfaces.
This guide is part of our larger IPTV player setup hub, where we keep walkthroughs for every major app. Here we go deep on one player only — the one most enthusiasts eventually land on — from a clean Firestick to a fully configured guide with favorites, catch-up, and recording.
Why TiViMate is the enthusiast favorite
Ask in any cord-cutting forum which player people end up on after trying three or four, and TiViMate comes up more than anything else. The reason is the guide. TiViMate's grid EPG looks and behaves like a high-end cable box: full-screen program grid, live preview in the corner, smooth scrolling through thousands of channels without stutter, and a timeline you can page through days ahead. Most competing apps treat the guide as an afterthought; TiViMate treats it as the entire interface.
Beyond the guide, three things set it apart. First, deep customization — you decide what the channel list shows, how many EPG rows fit on screen, what the OK button does, even how long the info bar lingers. Second, multi-playlist support: if you keep more than one subscription, or one login for live TV and another for international channels, TiViMate merges them into a single interface. Third, it's built for TV remotes first — every function is reachable with the directional pad, no mouse-toggle gymnastics.
The honest comparison: IPTV Smarters Pro is easier for a first-timer and better if you mostly browse VOD menus, while TiViMate is stronger for live TV, sports, and anyone who lives in the program guide. If you're still deciding between players, our roundup of the best IPTV apps for Firestick compares them side by side.
TiViMate free vs Premium — what $9.99 a year actually buys
TiViMate itself installs free, and the free version is a genuinely usable player: one playlist, full grid EPG, and solid playback. But the features that make people love TiViMate — favorites, catch-up, recording, multiple playlists — all sit behind Premium. Premium costs $9.99 per year (or a one-time lifetime option, when offered) and is purchased through a separate phone app called TiViMate Companion, covering up to 5 devices on one account. We cover activation later in this guide.
| Feature | Free | Premium ($9.99/yr) |
|---|---|---|
| Grid EPG with live preview | Yes | Yes |
| Playlists | 1 only | Multiple, merged in one interface |
| Favorites lists | No | Yes, unlimited custom lists |
| Catch-up / replay TV | No | Yes (when your provider supports it) |
| Recording to local storage | No | Yes, plus scheduled recordings |
| Reminders & auto-tune | No | Yes |
| Interface customization | Basic | Full (layout, buttons, panels) |
Our advice: install free, confirm your playlist loads and your channels play, then upgrade. At under a dollar a month, Premium is the rare in-app purchase that's an easy yes — but there's no reason to pay before you've verified the app works with your service.
Step 1: Prepare your Firestick to accept the install
Because TiViMate isn't distributed through the Amazon Appstore, your Firestick needs permission to install it from elsewhere. Amazon hides that permission behind Developer Options, and — annoyingly — newer Fire OS versions hide Developer Options itself. Here's the path for both.
If you don't see Developer Options (newer Fire OS)
- From the Firestick home screen, open Settings (the gear icon).
- Select My Fire TV, then About.
- Highlight your device name (e.g., "Fire TV Stick 4K Max") and press the Select/OK button 7 times in a row.
- A message appears: "You are now a developer." Developer Options is now unhidden.
- Go back one screen to My Fire TV — Developer Options now appears in the list.
Enable installs from Downloader (all Fire OS versions)
- Open Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options.
- On newer Fire OS: select Install unknown apps, find Downloader in the list, and toggle it ON. (If Downloader isn't listed yet, install it first — Step 2 — then come back.)
- On older Fire OS: simply toggle Apps from Unknown Sources to ON and confirm the prompt.
🔑 This setting is safe and reversible
"Developer Options" sounds intimidating, but all you're doing is what every Android phone allows out of the box: installing an app from outside one store. You're granting the permission to a single app (Downloader), you can toggle it off afterward, and nothing about your Firestick's warranty or updates changes.
Step 2: Install Downloader from the Amazon Appstore
Downloader is a free, legitimate utility from the Amazon Appstore — tens of millions of installs — whose whole job is fetching files onto a Fire TV, since the device has no normal web browser workflow for this.
- From the home screen, select the Search (magnifying glass) icon, or press the microphone button on your remote.
- Type or say "Downloader" and select the orange Downloader app in the results.
- Select Get / Download and wait for the install to finish.
- If you couldn't finish Step 1 earlier because Downloader wasn't installed yet, go back now: Settings > My Fire TV > Developer Options > Install unknown apps > Downloader > ON.
Step 3: Get TiViMate through Downloader
Now you'll sideload the official TiViMate installation file — "sideload" just means installing it directly rather than through Amazon's store. One important warning first: type the official TiViMate address only. Random file-hosting sites that offer "TiViMate" bundles are how people end up with modified or outdated builds. Use the current official installer link — your IPTV provider's setup email usually includes it, and our player tutorials keep the current addresses too. ZyroTV customers can also ask WhatsApp support for it any time, 24/7.
- Open Downloader. On first launch, select Allow on the file-access prompt and dismiss the changelog.
- Select the URL field, enter the official TiViMate installer address, and select Go.
- The installation file downloads (it's small — well under 100 MB), then the Fire OS install screen appears automatically.
- Select Install, wait a few seconds, then select Done (not Open — one more housekeeping step first).
- Downloader offers to delete the installation file. Select Delete, then confirm — TiViMate is already installed, and Firestick storage is precious.
TiViMate now lives under Your Apps & Channels. Press and hold the Home button, choose Apps, and move TiViMate to your front row — you'll be opening it daily.
Step 4: First launch — connect your IPTV service
Open TiViMate and you'll be greeted by an empty player asking for a playlist. This is the moment people get stuck, so let's be precise. TiViMate doesn't come with any channels — it's a player, like a TV with no antenna. Your channels come from your IPTV subscription, and your provider's welcome email contains the credentials: either an Xtream Codes login (server address + username + password) or an M3U playlist URL (one long web address). ZyroTV sends both, and either works — Xtream is the better choice in TiViMate because the EPG configures itself.
Option A: Xtream Codes login (recommended)
- On the welcome screen select Add playlist, then choose Xtream Codes login.
- Enter the server address exactly as written in your email, including the
http://prefix and the port number if one is shown (e.g.,:8080). - Enter your username and password, then select Next.
- TiViMate connects, shows the playlist name and channel count — select Next, keep the default EPG settings, and select Done.
- Channels load into the grid. Press OK on any channel to start watching.
Option B: M3U playlist URL
- Select Add playlist, then choose M3U playlist.
- Enter the full playlist URL from your provider email, character for character, and select Next.
- Give the playlist a name (e.g., "ZyroTV"), select Next, then Done.
- If the guide is empty afterward, add the EPG source manually — covered in the next section.
⚠️ http, not https
Most IPTV server addresses begin with http:// — no "s". Fire TV keyboards and autocomplete love to "correct" this to https://, which makes the login fail with a connection error even though every character of your username and password is right. If TiViMate won't connect, check this first.
⚠️ Credentials are exact-match
Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive, and a single stray space (easily added by the on-screen keyboard after autocomplete) will fail the login. Type them exactly as they appear in your email. For a deeper walkthrough of every login field, see our dedicated guide to logging in to an IPTV server on TiViMate.
Step 5: Set up the EPG (program guide)
The EPG is TiViMate's superpower, so make sure it's actually populated. If you connected with an Xtream Codes login, TiViMate fetched the guide data automatically — you should already see program titles next to channels. If you used an M3U URL and the guide is blank, add the source by hand:
- Open Settings (gear icon in the left panel) > EPG.
- Select Add EPG source and enter the XMLTV guide URL from your provider (ZyroTV includes it alongside your M3U link).
- Select Update and give it a minute — guide data for tens of thousands of channels is a large file.
Two settings worth changing while you're in the EPG menu: set Update interval to once a day (guide data goes stale, and daily refresh keeps tonight's listings accurate), and enable Update on app launch so a freshly opened TiViMate always shows current data. If some channels show "No information," that's normal — providers don't have guide data for every minor feed.
Step 6: The five settings that make TiViMate feel like yours
Out of the box TiViMate is good; ten minutes in Settings makes it exceptional. These are the changes we recommend to every new user:
- Trim your channel groups. Settings > Playlists > your playlist > Manage groups — hide the categories you'll never watch. A 30,000-channel service like ZyroTV's lineup is far more pleasant when the guide only shows your countries and genres.
- Build a favorites list (Premium). Long-press any channel > Add to favorites. Your 15 real channels in one group beats scrolling thousands.
- Raise the buffer size. Settings > Playback > Buffer size — try 1× or 2× if streams occasionally stutter. A bigger buffer trades a fraction of a second of channel-change speed for smoother playback on busy evenings. Remember the network floor: roughly 10–15 Mbps per HD stream and ~25 Mbps for 4K.
- Set reminders (Premium). Find tonight's game in the guide, long-press, Set reminder — TiViMate can auto-tune to the channel when it starts.
- Try multiview (Premium). Long-press OK on a playing channel and add a second stream — up to four tiles at once, ideal for overlapping games. Each tile counts against your connection limit, so a 1-connection plan supports one stream at a time.
Activating Premium with the Companion app
Premium isn't bought on the Firestick itself — there's no payment flow in the TV app. It works through a small phone app instead:
- On your Android phone, install TiViMate Companion from Google Play.
- Open it, create an account (email + password), and purchase Premium — $9.99/year through Google's normal billing.
- On the Firestick, open TiViMate > Settings > Premium and sign in with that same account.
- Premium unlocks instantly on this device — and the same account covers up to 5 devices, so a second Fire TV or an Android TV in the bedroom is included.
💡 No Android phone?
The Companion app is Android-only, but it's a one-time need: borrow a family member's Android phone for five minutes, create the account, and pay. Activation on your Firestick only needs the email and password afterward — the phone can uninstall the app the same day.
Troubleshooting: the four problems that cover 95% of cases
| Symptom | Most likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Playlist won't load / "could not connect" | Typo in the server address — usually https instead of http, a missing port, or a stray space in the username | Re-enter credentials character for character from your provider email; check the http:// prefix and port. Still failing? Your subscription may have expired — verify with your provider. |
| Channels play but the guide is empty | EPG source missing (common with M3U setups) or the first guide download hasn't finished | Settings > EPG > Add EPG source with your XMLTV URL, then Update and wait a minute. Set daily auto-update. |
| Buffering or stuttering streams | Wi-Fi congestion, an underpowered connection, or an overloaded provider server | Raise TiViMate's buffer size, move the Firestick closer to the router (or use an Ethernet adapter), and confirm ~10–15 Mbps for HD / ~25 Mbps for 4K. Full diagnosis: why IPTV buffers and how to fix it. |
| App is outdated or misbehaving | TiViMate doesn't auto-update outside app stores | Repeat Step 3 with the current official installation file — it installs over the old version and keeps all your playlists and settings. |
TiViMate is only half the equation
A flawless player pointed at an overloaded server still buffers at kickoff. TiViMate deserves a service that matches it: ZyroTV delivers 30,000+ live channels across the US and Canada (locals included), 120,000+ movies and series on demand, FHD/4K streams from servers in North America, the UK, and Germany with 99%+ uptime — handed to you as standard Xtream Codes and M3U credentials that drop straight into the login screens above. Activation is instant, support is on WhatsApp 24/7, and every plan carries a 7-day money-back guarantee, so you can run TiViMate against your real channels on a real game night before committing. Plans start at $15 for one month, falling to about $5.83/month on the 12-month plan.
